During my younger years, when the metro is too drab for me to grasp. I grab my old backpack and hit the  road, drove onto my Dad’s hometown in Lemery, Batangas. There were also a couple of times I take public transportation to go to places on a last-minute, hit the high road gesture.

All the while I thought I was able to outgrew that mindset until few years back I had another episode.
Originally, I planned to visit Taiwan on the 5th Day of the fifth lunar month. Dragon Boat is big back then, so I prepared my passport and got myself a Taiwan Visa. Months of stressful yet productive engagements had kept me on top of my game. But going through a broiling week after getting my Taiwan Visa, broke the Camel’s back. I booked a flight to Taiwan to clear my mind and come back with a fresh creative juice from the “One Day Trip”.

THE GREAT UNKNOWN

Took the midnight flight, arrived in Tao Yuan Airport at an ungodly hour and found myself in unfamiliar location. Our country and Taiwan shares the same time zone and luckily, some locals can speak the universal language.

I reached Taipei safely and had to regain strength. As my saga in exploring the whole Taipei for a day continues. I figured, what better way to see the vast Taiwan capital given a short trip? Taipei 101
When I heard that Taiwan Tourism will host a Road Show, November 10-11, 2018  coined “Panahon sa Taiwan” in Robinson’s Place Manila, I made sure that I'll be able to visit the event and checked on what I missed on my previous trip.

Sad to say, I missed a lot. I checked on the offerings during the expo I am sold on the idea that the trip will be more exciting if I’m going with my significant half. This prompt me and Chefy Wifey Michelle book a flight and arrange our schedule for a seven-day Taiwan trip contrary to my one day hoorah.
TAIWAN VISA-FREE

Visit Taiwan and be part of the privilege travelers who explored the country, Visa Free.  This Win-Win situation is up for grabs until July 2019. Based on data from Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, there were 290,784 visitors from Philippines last year, surging 68.59% over the year before and is still growing fast. According to Taiwan Tourism Bureau’s statistics, this year from January to August, there were already more than 285,000 Philippine visitors traveling to Taiwan.

With the goal to invite more Filipinos to visit Taiwan, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau partnered Taiwanese travel agencies on a two-day successful travel promotion event at 1F of Robinsons Place Manila that transpired last 10th & 11th of November. Aboriginal dance performance, DIY Beadwork and other family friendly activities were amongst the highlight of the fun-filled two-day expo. Through the interaction with people, dedicated stalls featured on Taiwanese theme parks, hot springs and gourmet are ready to show the characteristics and attractions of Taiwan.

I gorged on the different programs that were prepared at each session. Activities included “Mascot Greet-and-Meet”, “Post to Win Freebies”, “Limited Milk Pearl Tea for Free”. The organizer also invited local web celebrity director “Mark Christian” to share his experiences of shooting travel film in Taiwan. There were series of online and offline activities that was participated by the expo goers.

The fun and gourmet had its fare share. Moreover, the limited presents from Taiwan Tourism Bureau  were redeemed by Filipinos who booked their flight and land transfers on the said event at Taiwan Tourism Bureau counter.
