SUN LIFE My Lao Tzu
Have you ever looked at the mirror and felt bad of your reflection? I feel for you. In my case, I was browsing on the photos of my travel adventures last year and I came across a crazy photo 2 summers ago. In the photo, I took the plunge and swam with the Whale Sharks in Oslob, Cebu. As I reminisce the excitement of swimming with the whale shark for the 2nd time, Twelve years after my Donsol experience, I noticed that the boatman was able to capture what appeared to be 2 Whale sharks swimming. I felt bad for giving in the pleasure of food and went overboard. Submitting or giving in to the pleasure of what the world offers is just but normal but going overboard or the too much of everything maligns the whole process.
This realization prompted my attention to an invite of a good friend in the industry, Arnel “Arby” Bautista. Arby is part of Sun Life’s digital team in their advocacies on Financial Literacy & Living a Healthier Life.
This Journey to a thousand mile started with my First Fun Run last January 20, 2018. Sun Life Resolution Run is my Lao Tzu. Apart from its successful stint, it also sent a powerful message across the nation as the advocacy delve on diabetes and the right food for a healthier person. I even got to share the experience with my two boys and significant half.
It was indeed a Fun run as I see my kids accomplish their first 500 meter goal. As for me and Michelle, the struggle is real. Michelle was challenged by a three-day migraine and had to keep up with our three kilometer run. Funny as it sound, three-kilometer for the borderline-obese us, in our early forty’s, will make one think twice if he or she will get their feet wet in this field. We even had the privilege to run side by side with Sun Life’s chief marketing officer Ms. Mylene Lopa as we reach the final one hundred meter towards the finish line. It was a blast.
I still have a lot to learn in my journey to a thousand mile and I'm so blessed and thankful to friends and love ones who supports me in finishing every single race. As I prepare myself to the next Resolution Run I always keep in mind that the determination to weave the path to a brighter life and the HEART to FINISH any given task makes it all worth every single leap.
